Dancing nature: Movement, Yoga, Art & Hiking Retreat

Dancing nature: Mindful Movement, Yoga, Art & Hiking Retreat

"I wish to dance what I am…the non-existent self…that which is not found in my memory."
-Min Tanaka (dancer)

“The body is alive together with the earth.

Freedom and Love are just words. We need to realise it with the body.

-Sometimes when I see you dancing an environment I feel more the river and I feel more the wall or whatever, so it’s like you give a body so we can feel the nature.
-If you can see the sky beautiful, it’s my big pleasure, rather than my own dance.

To dance nature towards freedom and love.”

-Extract from an interview with Min Tanaka

Think about when was the last time you danced the music of a forest.

Activities

Daily circumstances are full of wonder if one encounters the serenity to observe them in silence. And being conscious that we a part of something bigger, maybe infinite is mind blowing.

Life is movement. No matter how small or slow, this constant and continuous vibration is present in every cell that forms part of the Universe. So the Universe breathing is also present in our bodies. Looking deeply this movement, a beautiful dance in itself, arises the same awe that in a child watching the sky.

In the movement sessions we will explore movement techniques such as Body Weather, Katsugen Undo, Yuki, among others.

Yoga classes are for all levels of practice.  The sesiones are based on principles of Kashmir Yoga.

In this practice, the asanas are special moments in which we sense the tranquility that lies at the heart of all life. Time between the asana practice is dedicated to meditation allowing us space to familiarise ourselves with our body’s natural absorption and vibrational state that arises unexpectedly during these moments.

We will explore the body just as it is in each moment – any areas where we feel emptiness, tension or reaction. Allowing deep listening to become the guiding principle, without expecting anything in return.

Meditative walks and longer hikes are an essential part of our retreats. They are easy and accessible to everyone.

Meditative hiking helps us understand, through experience, our deep connection with nature. It makes us realize, with every step and every breath, that the energy within us is equal to the energy outside.

Nature is our greatest teacher. Silence and deep listening help us enrich the experience it offers.

There will be two 2-3 hour meditative walks in nature to open the senses and develop mindfulness, with activities such as forest bathing and creative pursuits.

One day will be dedicated to a half-day meditative hike, departing after breakfast and returning for a gentle yoga class. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the wonders of Ordesa National Park and the Sobrarbe-Pyrenees UNESCO Global Geopark.

Meditation

There will be daily meditation in the mornings. The best way to start your day.

We practice simple and easy techniques so you can continue at home. We use universal elements for everyone as points of focus, such as posture, breathing, bodily sensations, sounds, etc.

Satsang

In Sanskrit, Sat means truth and Sang means group or community. Satsang is a gathering to share our concerns, questions, and our deepest insights. It is also a time to meditate together, contemplate nature and sing meditative songs or mantras.

Joyful Silence

Every day, from the end of Satsang or lazy time until after lunch the following day, we cultivate a joyful and blissful silence at Casa Cuadrau. This profound silence is very healing, calming the mind and bringing us peace with ourselves, allowing us to listen attentively. We will have more restful sleep, and the next day we will enjoy the silence with mental clarity for our asana practice, meditation, and other activities.

Breakfast and lunch are eaten mindfully in silence, practicing “mindful eating“. By participating in this period of joyful silence, we will be supporting one another in our practice.

Throughout the afternoon, we will enjoy mindful speaking and deep listening, getting to know each other in a more authentic way.

Electronic Detox

We do not offer internet service in order to preserve the retreat atmosphere and allow you to fully benefit from contact with nature.

Upon arrival, we ask that you turn off your mobile phone and all electronic devices to give them a break and enjoy a digital detox.

Before you arrive, please let your family, friends, and colleagues know that you will be unavailable during your stay. You can always provide them with our contact information so they can rest easy if they need to reach you.

A moment of silence to connect with nature, with yourself, and with the group.

The tea leaf is considered a medicinal plant for the body and soul. The tea ceremony is an ancient practice in many cultures and is a way to remember that disconnection from nature is not real. Tea is a dialogue between nature and humankind.
